Studio Scene: September 2026

On Monday, August 24, students walked into the NNPS Telecommunications Center marking the first week of school.

The 2026 NNPS Summer Graduation was held Tuesday, August 4, in the Heritage High School Auditorium. A crew of Telecom staff and alumni recorded it for replay on NNPS-TV, and for upload to the Student YouTube channel.

NNPS-TV will cover select high school football games live from Todd Stadium. Live coverage can be seen on Cox Channel 47 and Verizon Fios Channel 17, as well as via livestream on YouTube, Roku and Apple TV, nnpstv.com, and on the NNPS-TV app.

Back-to-School time is a good time to watch NNPS-TV videos showcasing some of the activities and initiatives of our school division:

Division-wide videos

The Telecom TV students are back! They jumped right into video production the first week of school.

The TV- I students got tours of the station and the remote TV production truck, learned how to set up tripods and video cameras, and for their first project, recorded green screen introductions (recording each other speaking about themselves in front of a green background). They then edit the videos using AVID to add a background of their choice, as well as music, to complete the video. They are also learning how to adjust the audio with music playing as they are speaking on camera. Next, they will begin their camera certification where they will record five camera shots along with a standup and close on camera.  They will edit it together to further their editing skills.

TV-II students went straight to brainstorming for the VSBA (Virginia School Boards Association) video contest. For this project, they produce and edit a 30-second video centered around the given theme, which this year is "Rooted in Education." There will be three groups of six or seven students, so three videos will be created. A winner will be chosen from the three groups to represent NNPS since only one video may be submitted for each district.

The September "Sports Highlights" features Allen Simon, Head Football Coach at Crittenden Middle School and Jocelyn Langford, Head Girls Basketball Coach at Woodside High School. Watch "Sports Highlights" on NNPS-TV (Cox 47/Verizon Fios 17/Roku/Apple TV/app) on Mondays at 7 a.m., 2 p.m., and 7 p.m., and weekends at 9 a.m. "Sports Highlights" can be seen on demand on the NNPS-TV Video site, too, or any of our apps.

The next regular NNPS School Board meeting will be held Tuesday, September 15. All meetings are broadcast live on NNPS-TV (Cox 47/Verizon 17) and livestreamed on the Student YouTube channel.
