For the past 10 years, the NNPS Telecom team has covered the Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) Annual Convention in mid-November, and this year was no different.
Held at the Williamsburg Lodge in Colonial Williamsburg, the convention is the largest gathering of school board members in the state.
The video production crew's job is to gather footage to make a promo video advertising next year's conference.
NNPS Telecom students have spent a couple days video-recording at the event since 2013. The team covered the event even when it was held virtually in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the 2021 hybrid version, too.
This year, a small team from Telecom handled the convention: Telecom Supervisor Ray Price led the production, with support from Telecom grad and former intern Brandon Hedgepeth and current Telecom student Ethan Clinkenbeard, who is a senior at Woodside High.
The TV team recorded speaker presentations and discussion panels, plus the activity in the exhibition hall full of vendor booths. Early the next morning, they got footage of the 5K run.
A highlight for the crew was recording the governor's speech to the school board members.
The footage the team gathered over the weekend will be edited to create a promo, which will be submitted for review. The team can then make any needed modifications before it is used to promote next year's conference.
Once again, Telecom Supervisor Ray Price ran into a former Telecom student working at the VSBA Convention. Nick Hollomon is Operations Manager for The AV Company, which is based in Charlottesville. Price recognized him despite his beard.
