NNPS-TV has been making some upgrades to improve the Telecommunications building and streamline video production.

Leftover dead cable that was running throughout the Telecom building has been removed in preparation for a new HVAC system that will be installed this summer.

A new server with plentiful storage capability has been purchased, along with new computers for editing stations.

The NNPS-TV production team will also be using new professional video-editing software called DaVinci Resolve, which is made by Blackmagic Design. They downloaded the free version to "test drive" it, and plan to purchase the full version once the newest version is available.

The production team comprises Station Manager Jim Anklam, Producer Nik Long, and Production Specialist Aaron Moore, who does a lot of the editing in addition to shooting.

Moore said he is excited to update and expand the editing software, but plans to keep the old computers with Final Cut Pro on them in order to open older projects easily.

Anklam said, "We definitely maximize the use of our equipment; in fact, we haven’t been able to upgrade the operating system on our old computers for a couple of years. These changes allow us to move forward to the next level."

The team will start using the new software over the next few weeks.
