NNPS Telecom students worked side-by-side with staffers from Newport News Television (Cox Cable 48/Verizon FiOS 19) to produce a live broadcast of the April 14 City Council Budget Hearing. The meeting was held at Mary Passage Middle School and broadcast live from Telecom's remote video production truck. The event was also recorded for replay on the city channel.
This is the third year in a row that NNPS-TV (Cox Cable 47/Verizon FiOS 17) has collaborated with NNTV to provide live coverage of the budget hearing.
Under the supervision of Telecom Educational Supervisor Ray Price, the students were responsible for operating cameras and other production equipment while using NNPS-TV’s production truck, while the NNTV staff set up the logistics and overall layout of the event.
At the beginning of the meeting, Newport News City Manager Neil Morgan acknowledged NNTV and the support of the student crew from Telecom.
The video was replayed on NNTV several times and is now available on the city's website under City Council Webcasts, or at the following link: http://newportnews.granicus.com/MediaPlayer.php?view_id=2&clip_id=1001.
