First-year NNPS Telecom students got an opportunity this spring that many only dream of: producing a music video.
Coincidentally titled "I’m Dreamin'," the song was written and performed by 19-year-old local artist Zaiah Burke. Burke grew up in Newport News and is a Warwick High School graduate and budding rap star. The video portrays him dreaming about his rich life as a successful musician, complete with fancy house and high-end car.
The music video is one of the final student projects of the year. The TV-1 class includes: Mario Lawrence, Cymber Clay, Tenisha Williams, Angela Brown, Chase Bradley, Annjela Nelson, and Trenacia Garnes.
The students shot the video in the NNPS-TV studio and on locations around town, including in front of the fountain at City Center. NNPS employee Kim Hinton, who is Executive Assistant to the School Board, appears in the video as Burke's exasperated mom.
"I’m Dreamin'" is on Zaiah Burke's debut album "Book of Isaiah: Finding His Way."
