SkillsUSA officers elected

Telecom students elected SkillsUSA officers for the new school year as one of the first orders of business upon returning to school.

Six students will serve, with Woodside senior Ryan Mullen leading the club as president.

SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit organization that brings together students, teachers and industry representatives with a common goal: ensuring our nation has a skilled work force. It provides educational programs, events, and competitions that support career and technical education (CTE) in the nation’s classrooms.

For over 20 years, Telecom students have been participating in the SkillsUSA competitions and conferences. Telecom Supervisor Ray Price takes participating students to competitions at the district, state, and national level. The students compete in a number of different categories, and are encouraged to try things other than TV production, too. Some of the categories they have competed in include "Live on Site" Video Production, Prepared Speech, Quiz Bowl, and Job Interview.

The 2018-19 SkillsUSA officers are:

President – Ryan Mullen
Vice President – Derick Miracle
Secretary – Tyson Odette
Treasurer – Treyon Mobley
Reporter – Jordan Mottley
Parliamentarian – Aliyah Alexander

One goal of the club is to raise money for expenses involved in attending and competing in the SkillsUSA conferences.
