Telecom students compete in SkillsUSA district event

Telecom students compete in SkillsUSA district event

SkillsUSA logoTelecom students competed at the SkillsUSA District 4 Leadership and Skills Conference on February 28 at New Horizons Regional Education Center in Hampton.

SkillsUSA strives to ensure America has a skilled workforce, with students, teachers and industry working together to achieve that goal.

District 4 includes Newport News, Hampton, Yorktown, Gloucester, Poquoson, Williamsburg and the Eastern Shore.

Two Telecom students competed at the conference, in the Job Interview category, with She'Keliah Chapman of Heritage High earning second place.

More Telecom students will be competing at the State Conference, since some competitions are automatically at the state level.

Telecom Supervisor Ray Price and Instructor Carl Daniels Jr. took the students to the competition.

The 2018 SkillsUSA Virginia State Leadership Conference and Skills Championship will be held April 20-21 in Virginia Beach.
